Our Approach to Inflatable Safety
Before an inflatable is ready for use, several things need to be right at the same time. The equipment must be appropriate for the event, the site must be suitable, the required operating space must be available and the inflatable must be installed using the appropriate anchoring arrangements.
Safety also continues after setup. Users need to follow the rules for the particular equipment and responsible supervision must be maintained while it is in operation.

PIPA Testing and Inflatable Inspections
You'll see PIPA mentioned on applicable inflatables within our range. PIPA is an inspection scheme used within the inflatable play industry and provides a way of demonstrating that applicable inflatable play equipment has undergone the relevant inspection process.
Rather than assuming that every item of party equipment falls under exactly the same testing regime, check the individual product information or speak to us if you need confirmation about a particular unit.

Public Liability Insurance and Event Documentation
Krazy Kool Kastles carries public liability insurance for our hire operations. Documentation can be particularly important when you're booking equipment for a school, organisation, council facility, corporate event or managed venue.
Where required, speak to us in advance about the documentation your venue or organisation needs. This gives everyone time to establish what information is required before the event rather than trying to resolve paperwork on the day.
Professional Delivery and Setup
Our team delivers and sets up the hired equipment rather than leaving customers to work out the installation themselves.
Setup involves more than simply inflating the unit. The position of the equipment, available clearance, anchoring arrangements, access and surrounding area all need to be considered.
Where safety mats are required as part of the setup, these are positioned appropriately around relevant access, exit or landing areas.
Anchoring Is Essential
An inflatable must be secured using an appropriate anchoring method. The method used depends on the location, surface and equipment being installed.
Outdoor installations on suitable ground and indoor installations are not treated as interchangeable setups. If you're unsure whether your intended surface is suitable, tell us before booking rather than assuming an inflatable can be installed anywhere there appears to be enough room.

Weather and Wind Conditions
Outdoor inflatable hire is weather dependent. Rain may affect an event plan, but wind is a particularly important safety consideration because inflatable equipment must not be operated outside the applicable safe conditions.

Choosing Equipment for the People Attending
Not every inflatable is intended for every user. Equipment can have restrictions relating to age, size, number of users and the way it is designed to be used.
That's why we don't recommend choosing solely by which inflatable looks biggest or has the preferred artwork.

Adult Use Must Be Checked Before Booking
A children's bouncy castle should not be treated as an adult inflatable simply because a grown-up can physically climb onto it.

Supervision During the Hire
Correct setup doesn't remove the need for supervision. Inflatable users need to follow the operating rules throughout the event, and behaviour that could create unnecessary risk should be stopped.
For ordinary private hires, the hirer is responsible for ensuring appropriate supervision during use. Larger organised events may have different requirements, particularly where several attractions are operating simultaneously or large visitor numbers are expected.

Keeping Different Users Apart Where Necessary
One practical aspect of supervision is managing who uses an inflatable at the same time. Large differences in age, size or ability can create problems even when every individual user would otherwise be permitted to use the equipment.

Space Around the Inflatable Matters Too
The physical dimensions shown for a product tell you the size of the inflatable, but that doesn't necessarily represent the total space required for safe installation and operation.
Additional clearance may be required around the equipment, and entrances and exits need to remain usable. Trees, fences, sheds, play equipment, seating and other obstacles can reduce the genuinely usable area of a garden or event site.
Indoors, ceiling height introduces another important measurement. Lights, beams, suspended decorations and other overhead features need to be considered rather than relying solely on the stated height of the room.

Indoor Inflatable Safety
Indoor venues remove some weather concerns, but they introduce their own planning requirements. Floor area, ceiling clearance, access, power availability and the method of securing the equipment all need to be considered.
A hall that comfortably accommodates one low-height inflatable may not be suitable for a taller bounce and slide or obstacle course.

Powering the Equipment
Inflatables require suitable blowers to remain inflated during operation, which means access to an appropriate power supply must be considered when planning the setup.
Where suitable mains electricity isn't conveniently available, a Generator may be an option for appropriate events. Tell us about the venue when enquiring so the power requirements can be considered as part of the overall event plan.
Clean Equipment Is Part of Good Preparation
Equipment condition isn't only about structural safety. Cleaning and preparation between bookings are particularly important for equipment handled closely by children.

Are you insured?
Yes. Krazy Kool Kastles carries public liability insurance for its hire operations. If your school, organisation, company or venue requires documentation, please discuss this with us before the event.
Who is responsible for supervising a bouncy castle?

Can adults use your bouncy castles?
Only equipment suitable for adult use should be used by adults. Do not assume a children's inflatable is suitable simply because an adult can physically access it. Our adult inflatable use guide explains this distinction.
Can inflatables be used when it's windy?
Inflatables must only be operated within the applicable safe conditions. Outdoor operation is weather dependent, and equipment must not continue to operate when conditions make its use unsafe.
Can you put a bouncy castle inside a hall?
