Who Can Use Which Inflatables?

To keep everyone safe and to avoid confusion on the day of your event, it’s important to understand who can use which inflatables. Not all inflatables are suitable for all ages, and some have specific rules about adult use. This page explains how our inflatables are intended to be used and what to expect when planning your event.

Inflatables for babies and toddlers

Babies and toddlers should only use equipment designed specifically for early years play. These items are low height, fully enclosed where appropriate, and made for gentle movement.

Our Soft Play Hire range is ideal for this age group and includes soft play shapes, mats and ball pools. Toddler-friendly inflatables can also be found in our Toddler Inflatables & Games collection, which is suited to indoor venues and supervised sessions.

Inflatables for children

Most of our inflatables are designed for children and are suitable for birthday parties, school events and family celebrations. These include standard bouncy castles, themed inflatables and bouncy castles with slides from our Bouncy Castles and Bouncy Castles with Slides ranges.

Children should always be supervised by a responsible adult, and users should stay within the recommended age range for each inflatable. Mixing very different ages on the same inflatable is not advised.

Inflatables for older children and teenagers

Older children and teenagers often enjoy more active inflatables that involve climbing, sliding or competitive play. Items from our Obstacle Courses and Inflatable Games ranges are commonly hired for this age group at school fun days, youth groups and community events.

Although these inflatables are more physical, they are still designed for children and teenagers, not adults, unless stated otherwise.

Inflatables that adults can use

Adults are not permitted to use most inflatables. This is important for safety and to prevent damage to equipment.

We currently offer two inflatables that are suitable for adult use:

Foot Darts Kick n Stick and Penalty Shootout

These football inflatables are designed for mixed-age use and are commonly hired for community events, workplace fun days and charity events where adults want to take part alongside children.

Why these rules matter

Inflatables are built to specific size and weight limits. Using equipment outside of its intended age range increases the risk of injury and damage. Following age guidance helps keep play fair, safe and enjoyable for everyone.

If you’re planning a mixed-age event

For events with a wide age range, such as school fun days, council events or family festivals, we recommend choosing a mix of equipment. Soft play and children’s inflatables can be set up alongside football inflatables that adults can safely use.

If you’re unsure which inflatables are suitable for your event, or you need help planning a layout that works for different ages, we’re happy to advise.
